The Lewis Family Christmas CD

This year, in lieu of spending $$ on gifts, we took the time to sit down and record a few christmas ditties on CD and pass out to the family as a keepsake. For those who received one, we hope you enjoyed it. If you would like a copy of the CD please feel free to ask. I have (and can make) as many as needed.

The songs that actually made the CD were; Nuttin' For Christmas sung by Matt (it's so bad that it's too cute not to listen to), Grandma Got Run Over sung by Matt, Michelle and me (as grandpa), Santa Baby sung by Michelle. I decided I wanted to do my own version of Santa Baby so I added that (you can hear Michelle's vocal on that version too) and i sang my sappy version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. And you will find a reading of Twas The Night from Matthew. I think he sounds a lot like Linus from Charlie Brown... you be the judge.

(RIGHT or CNTRL click on a link below and select SAVE LINK AS to download)
Twas The Night Before Christmas - Matthew
Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer - Matt, Michelle and Clay
Nuttin' For Christmas - Matthew
Santa Baby - Michelle
Santa Baby - Clay and Michelle (i couldn't resist)
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Clay

Ciralight Xmas Party!!

Ciralight held their annual Christmas party (2nd one since I've been onboard) and it was a blast. Jacque talked me into bringing my keyboard and maybe playing a tune or two... With the help of her sister Diana Lee, Rex, Earl and Jacque too we had fun singing back and forth and the crowd was very supportive :)

We sang a few christmas songs like, Santa Baby, The Christmas Song, Jingle Bell Rock, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, and I even attempted to belt out Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, with the help of Rex.

Earl and Julie hosted the party and they have an absolutely beautiful house. We appreciate their hospitality.

Matt and I practiced a little christmas ditty but didn't get the chance to show it off. So we'll save that for the Xmas CD this year. :)

Tubing in Park City

The joke is that I don't ski because my body doesn't like being thrown down hills at high velocities, therefor... I TUBE.

Michelle and I took the kids to the local Gorgoza Tubing Park for a couple hours on Sunday. And we had a blast. This is a much slower pace resort with lifts that drag you and your tube up the hill. At the top, you can fly solo or lash all your buddies tubes together and go flying down as one big screaming mass of flesh. :)

If you've never been... do it...

Winter in Utah

Well after being here for almost a year, I knew Park City gets a lot of snow. This past weekend proves it.

2.5 FEET!!

Spent the weekend shoveling the driveway a number of times. Might be time to breakdown and get a snow blower for sure. It's not even winter yet. The ski resorts are in full swing all around the area with all the snow.

We're planning on visiting the Tubing Park just down the road and spend a couple hours sliding down the hills without breaking any bones. :)

So we loaded up the rest of our belongings in a 26' Uhaul, put the Mustang on a trailer and drove the 2200 miles west to Park City, UT.

A proud moment for sure. After years of momma dragging Matthew to karate, it finally pays off when he is awarded his Black Belt. In the photo he is shaking hands with Sensei Sr. Now that he's in Utah, we need to find him a location that practices his style of karate... Tang So Do.

We're all proud of him. Congratulations Matthew!!

2007 Army 10-Miler in DC

It's that time again. October is here and it's time for the Army 10-Miler. This year, almost the entire Mason gang participated. Michelle, Kim, Kendall, Cadie, Diann and Richard all took part in Team Mason.

Running For Rick was the theme. Everyone finished in fine fashion and no one passed out.

The run starts out at the Pentagon, travels across the Memorial bridge past the Lincoln Memorial, up and around the Kennedy Center and the Watergate Hotel, along the Potomac, down the length of Independence Ave, around the US Capitol building back to the Pentagon.

Tearin' Up the Salt Flats

The 2.5hr drive from Park City to Wendover, NV, isn't all that exciting. Except for the last 10 miles or so before you enter into Nevada. This is where you come face to face with the Salt Flats of UT....100+ miles due west of the great Salt Lake, straight out I-80, you arrive at what appears to be a wide spread area of snow, which is in fact SALT. Salt left over from the remains of another great lake in the area... many many years ago.

We visited in the middle of July... the HOTTEST time of year to visit the Flats... it was SCORCHING!!!

A few miles west, we arrived at the Bonneville Speedway. All it really is a really flat, level surface of salt. Many speed records have been broken here. You can even drive your own car out on the flats if you dare and open her up. :)

Going Back in Time

Class of 87

June 2007 was my (Clay's) 20th high school reunion. Reluctantly, I talked myself into going back in time and revisiting a number of my friends from back in the day. I was glad I did. Getting to see some of the folks I used to hang out with every day was a treat.

People like Kris Koolidge, Lisa Zimmerman, Jamie Miller, Rick Weilminster, Jon Thomas, Chris Dell, Michelle Zimmerman and so many others.

We met for drinks at the Valley Inn, then gather for a picnic at the local pool the next day and followed up with dinner and dancing at 33 East. A good time for sure. Looking forward to future reunions.

So up the mountain I rode across the road from my condo.

Jason Visits Park City

After driving 36hrs from MD to UT, Jason hung out with me in Park City for a few days. He spent his days traveling the FREE bus system we have here in PC. The buses are free to help alleviate the parking on and around Main Street.. Park City's main tourist attraction.

Main Street is home to may restaurants and shops most which are pretty pricey. Just a few blocks over is the Park City Mountain Ski Resort.

Many celebrities frequent PC and some actually live here. The Sundance Film Festival is PC's most famous event. In the middle of January, Hollywood uplifts itself from California and drops into Park City to view the lastest round of Indie Films.

Come visit and you may get to see Paris Hilton draggin' her little rat dog around town. ;)

MD to UT in 36 Hrs

Originally uploaded by themactech
My brother, Jason, and I, drove from Baltimore MD to Park City UT in 36 hrs (1 1/2 days). We drove I-70 for almost the entire way until we arrived in Denver. We then turned north and connected with I-80.

Traveling through Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming and then finally into Utah. The most interesting site was seeing the St Louis Arch lit up at night as we drove through the city around 9:30pm. We then stopped in Ft Riley, KS to drive through the area where Michelle and I first lived after we were married. At 2:00am... nothing looked quite the same as I remembered it. :)

3:30am, we finally had to stop and rest. At a remote Rest Stop in Kansas, we both napped while the bitter cold wind whipped the truck back and forth. After an 1 1/2hr snooze we were back on our way...

The road was good to us for most of the drive. We averaged just over 65 mph for most of the trip. But the moment we arrived in Cheyenne, WY on I-80 our travels quickly slowed down.

Because of bad weather, blowing snow and ice, the road turned gnarly and our speeds dropped to below 25mph until we got almost halfway thru Wyoming.

Jason took pictures most of the way but unknowingly had his camera set to Black & White. They turned out pretty good.
