Hoover Dam

On our way our of Las Vegas we made another side trip to Boulder City, Nevada... the home of Hoover Dam. The dam sits on the border of Nevada and Arizona. We drove across twice and spent a good amount of time walking around the area.

The tour guide said I was allowed to take all the "dam" pictures I wanted and I felt obliged to do just that. I was also told that on holidays and long weekends that sometimes it may take up to three hours to cross the dam due to a narrow two-lane road that runs the length of the border. So in some of the pictures you will see "super-highway" being built to by-pass the dam altogether and reduce congestion.

It was rather impressive to see the dam in person. A true engineering marvel.

Dolphins!!

The Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas (home of Sigfried and Roy) also houses Dolphin Habitat just outside the casino doors.

Megan and Marissa spent some time exploring and took a number of these photos within the habitat.

Viva Las Vegas Part II

Continuing on our weekend trip, we decided to take the strip by foot. There is SO much to see on the strip that we couldn't possibly see it all. We focused mainly on the area of the Bellagio, Caesars Palace, The Mirage, Paris, The Flamingo and the other surrounding attractions.

Viva Las Vegas

We spent the Presidents Day holiday in Las Vegas. We made the 6hr drive down Interstate 15 which leads right into the north side of Las Vegas. We got off the highway and drove down Las Vegas Blvd from the north end all the way down to the Las Vegas sign.

The first night there we spent on Fremont Street. So many lights that the senses can go into overload without warning.

Visit to Kolob Canyon - Zion National Park

On a recent trip south to Las Vegas, we made a side trip into the Zion National Park just north of St. George, UT. The area is called Kolob Canyon and although it's just a very small portion of the entire park, it was still breathtaking.

This spring we're planning a weekend trip into the park again but focusing on the north east part of the park called Arches.

Clay Makes the Local News!!

If you haven't heard, we've just been pummeled with snow since the end of December. We have huge piles of snow in the yard. While making a trip to the local grocery store, I got stopped by Fox 13 News, the local Salt Lake City news station and was asked what I thought about the snow. Here's the clip. (Michelle isn't really yelling at me about the snow... she loves it as much as I do. Well, almost as much) ;)
